Dear Dr Tan
I had every intention of writing you a short note earlier but I have no idea where the time has gone. I’m pleased to say Mitchell is now 9 months old and a chunky, happy easy going little man. Kody has adjusted well to being a big brother and whilst he isn’t always the best helper, he does enjoy playing with his brother, especially now he is starting to play back.
I would like to thank you for your wonderful care during both my pregnancies, I cannot praise both you and the Mater Hospital enough. As a doctor, you are a caring, thoughtful and respectful. During my pregnancy, you always probed how I was coping and made sure I had the opportunity to ask any questions. During the birth, you were this calm presence who I knew had everything under control.
The Mater I describe as a fine hotel with amazing caring, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was a fantastic source of support and information. It allowed me to enjoy my new baby and catch up on some rest before heading home to the challenges of a newborn.
On a practical side, in all of my visits (for both pregnancies) you were always on time, and on the occasion that you needed to be with another Mother-to-be I was informed before the appointment. Who could ever complain about that? J The parking and location was easy. These practicalities may sound small but this was really important to me as I was squeezing visits into my lunch break at work.
Thank you for allowing the birth of my 2 boys be such a wonderful experience.

It's been almost 3 weeks since the both of our son, and parenthood has been amazing.
I wanted to write to you to thank you for your care during my pregnancy as well as the safe delivery of our little boy. You always made me feel safe and well cared for during the pregnancy and childbirth. You provided all the information such that the safe delivery of our baby was the top priority. I couldn't have asked for a better obstetrician. Sorry he came at the wee hours in the morning, I now crave for a proper night sleep!

"When I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first child I went to an antenatal appointment with another obstetrician. After the initial consultation, I realised that I wasn’t completely comfortable with my choice of Doctor. I started to panic as I was afraid I’d left it too late to find a new obstetrician. I had my heart set on delivering at The Mater Hospital, which also meant I was limited to finding a Doctor who practised there. Luckily a girlfriend, who was also pregnant at the time, recommended I go and see her obstetrician, Dr Steven Tan. My husband rang his office and, after having explained my ordeal, managed to make an appointment for us to see him the following week. The moment I met Dr Tan I knew I had finally made the right choice of obstetrician. He was very friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable, which made my husband and I feel completely at ease about my pregnancy and delivery. Dr Tan was always able to answer any questions and address any concerns I had, no matter how big or small. There were times when I’d phone his office to ask a question, and he’d always return my calls promptly. Our first-born, Lucy Belle, came into the world after a relatively quick and straightforward birth, just as he had predicted. Dr Tan visited our new little family in hospital numerous times to help welcome her into the world. I have since given birth to our second daughter, Annie Lou, once again under the care and guidance of Dr Tan. I have happily referred Dr Tan to my sister-in-law and girlfriend, who have been equally as happy with the service he provides. After having had 2 positive pregnancy and birth experiences, I have no doubt that my husband and I will return to Dr Tan for antenatal care should we chose to have any more children. In the meantime, I will continue to highly recommend him to anyone who is seeking an obstetrician, because in my opinion he will do his best to ensure that mum and baby are in the best of hands!"

- " Dr Steven Tan delivered my two youngest children. The first baby I had had a lot of problems and ended up being an urgent C section after 14 hours of labour in a public hospital in Perth. I then made the decision to " go private" for peace of mind. I' so glad I did. Dr Tan was reassuring and had such a calm confident manner, that I tried for a natural delivery with the next baby, which is what i always wanted. Both pregnancies and deliveries were plain sailing and we felt as though we were really in Gods Hands all the way through. He listened to me even though others advised against the deliveries, and I had a wonderful experience both times."
